Frequently Asked Questions

Is therapy covered by my insurance?

Like most specialists, we are out-of-network providers for insurance companies. That means we don’t accept direct payment from insurance companies. However, we can provide you with the necessary paperwork to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. For many of our clients who have out of network benefits, they receive reimbursement for more than 60% of the fee from their insurance provider.

We have worked with clients who receive out of network reimbursement from insurance companies including NYSHIP, BCBS, UHC, and Cigna.

Below are questions to ask your insurance provider about out of network coverage:

  1. Does the plan include out of network benefits from mental health services

  2. What is the co-insurance? (This is the amount that you are responsible for, similar to a co-pay)

  3. What is your annual deductible of mental health benefits? (This is how much you have to pay out of pocket before your benefits kick in)

  4. Is there a limit on the number of sessions the plan covers per yea?

  5. How do I submit a super bill for reimbursement?

Can we meet virtually?

We provide treatment via Telehealth for clients so that you can access the support you need from the comfort of your home. If you prefer in-person sessions, we are happy to invite you to meet in our office located in Roslyn, NY.

How often will we meet?

The care we provide is entirely individualized to meet your needs. Some clients benefit from and are willing to engage in more intensive treatment in which we meet multiple times a week. This is especially true for individuals suffering from intense OCD in which sessions are focused on Exposure and Response Prevention. Clients may also request sessions two or three times a week to address co-occuring conditions such as anxiety, depression, and relationships difficulties. Others feel comfortable meeting once a week. Clients who have made significant progress may require sessions less frequently to prevent regression and maintain progress. The decision about how often sessions occur is made together with careful consideration of the benefits and potential harm.

Do I need to come prepared to therapy?

Some clients come with notes or talking points for our session. This can help to ensure that we use time efficiently and prioritize areas of concern. Other clients feel comfortable with less structure so that we can allow for self-discovery and exploration. Either approach is completely acceptable. We are happy to guide the session or let you take the lead!
